Mark Shegda’s photography is inspired by his love of the outdoors and outdoor sports. His interest in photography was first sparked by the stunning natural beauty of the Rocky Mountains after he moved from Pennsylvania to Colorado over 40 years ago.
His photographic goal is to create visually stunning and spiritually moving imagery that inspires the viewer to appreciate the beauty of the natural world. He enjoys capturing scenic beauty whether it be in grand sweeping landscapes or in smaller more intimate natural scenes, and he especially enjoys printing and sharing his work on canvas.
After leaving Colorado at the end of the 1980's, and returning to Pennsylvania for almost 3 decades, he has come full circle moving back to Colorado 2 years ago. He loves to hike, bike, ski and surf, and still carries a camera on all of his adventures just as he did 40 years ago as a young man. Outdoor photography continues to be his focus and he enjoys capturing the scenic beauty of wherever he happens to be.
He hopes that his images inspire others to get outside and enjoy nature and its riches. To quote the famous naturalist John Muir, "Climb the mountains and get their good tidings. Nature's peace will flow into you as the sunshine flows into trees. The winds will blow their own freshness into you and the storms their energy, while cares will drop off like autumn leaves".
