I was speaking with one of our scientists here at NCAR this morning about the upcoming solar eclipse on May 20th. During our chat, he mentioned that he (Scott McIntosh) and another NCAR scientist appear in a new episode of the NOVA television series, which will premier next week.
The NOVA episode is titled "Secrets of the Sun". It will start airing Wednesday, April 25, 2012 on PBS. Scott McIntosh and Sarah Gibson are both scientists at NCAR's High Altitude Observatory (HAO). HAO scientists study the Sun, space weather, and the uppermost reaches of Earth's atmosphere (which is profoundly affected by the Sun).
For those of you who are our neighbors here in Colorado, you can find "Secrets of the Sun" on our local PBS stations:
- May 2 at 8 PM on channel 6 (Rocky Mountain PBS, KRMA)
- May 24 at 7 PM on channel 12 (Colorado Public Television, CPT - formerly KBDI)
If you are elsewhere in the United States, search for your local PBS station to check the air time.
