About the Event
Join with friends and neighbors as we view Chasing Coral, a film directed by Boulder's own Jeff Orlowski and produced by Larissa Rhodes at Production Labs. Jeff set out to tell the story of vanishing coral reefs around the world that are being threatened at an unprecedented rate. A team of divers, photographers and scientists set out on a thrilling ocean adventure to discover why and to reveal the underwater mystery to the world. According to the film's website, it took more than three years to shoot, and is the result of 650 + hours underwater, submissions of footage from volunteers from 30 countries, as well as support from more than 500 people from various locations around the world.
Following the screening, there will be questions and answers with NCAR's own marine biologist, Joanie Kleypas, who served as an adviser on the film.
We hope you will join us to learn about what's happening to the world's coral through visual storytelling of a catastrophic event. As the New York Times wisely proclaimed, Chasing Coral is an "emotional race against time."
