Personal Information

SOARS will contact you by email.  In the Preferred Email field below, please enter an address you check regularly.  If this is not your official school email address, please enter your official school email address in the Backup Email field.

The second round of the application process will consist of a phone interview. Please include a phone number where you can be reached to schedule this interview.
SOARS funding limits participation in the program to US citizens or legal permanent residents.
SOARS strives to have diverse representation of universities and student backgrounds in the cohort each year. We encourage applications from individuals who are members of a group that is historically under-represented in the atmospheric and related sciences, including students who are Black or African American, American Indian or Alaska Native, Hispanic or Latino, female, first generation college students, and students with disabilities. SOARS welcomes LGBT students.

2.  SOARS Mission and Personal Journey:  SOARS is dedicated to enhancing the diversity of future scientific communities and sharing our science with a broader audience.  Please describe how you, based on your personal background and life experiences (including social, cultural, familial, educational, or other opportunities or challenges) will contribute to this mission during and after participation in SOARS.  Please limit this to 500 words.

Files accepted include .pdf, .doc, .docx, and .jpg.

Please upload transcripts from all institutions you have attended, removing your social security number and/or birthdate if they are shown.  Unofficial transcripts will be accepted during the application process.  However, students selected for the internship will need to provide official transcripts before they will be officially accepted into the program. Please do not include high school transcripts.

Files accepted include .html, .pdf, .doc, and .docx.
SOARS occasionally offers scholarships to attend workshops and national conferences for qualified students who were not selected for the full SOARS program. Would you like to be considered for these awards?
There are other summer internships available at UCAR/NCAR and with our partnering programs for which you might qualify. If SOARS is unable to offer you a position, do you give SOARS permission to share your application?
