Join us for this free session! Seventy percent of the Earth is covered by the ocean. Whether you live on the coast or in a landlocked area, the ocean plays a vital role in our weather, food supply, and even the air we breathe. In this virtual workshop, UCAR SciEd partners with the UCAR Center for Ocean Leadership (COL) for an engaging hour-long session. Together, we’ll explore through classroom investigations how scientists around the world observe, monitor, and collect ocean data—particularly in the areas of coastal hazards, ecosystem changes, and food security—featuring resources from the IOOS K-12 Education Toolkit and UCAR SciEd. You’ll also learn about the exciting National Ocean Sciences Bowl and how your students can compete in this annual spring event, joining a nationwide community of ocean enthusiasts.
