[ROAR]

A hurricane, also called a typhoon or cyclone,

Hurricanes are the largest storms on earth.

They can measure over a thousand miles wide, with wind speeds of over 160 miles per hour.

As a hurricane approaches land, it brings strong winds, torrential rain, rip currents, flooding, and even tornadoes!

The storm surge, flooding caused by abnormally high water levels, can cause enormous damage to coastal towns.

If a hurricane approaches, be prepared. Listen to the weather forecast for storm details,

shelter in a sturdy structure away from flooding, or evacuate if needed.
