Ionosphere Diagram - Regions & Altitude

This diagram shows the three main regions (or layers) of Earth's ionosphere. Electrically charged atoms and molecules are much more common in these regions than in other places within Earth's atmosphere. During the daytime, there are usually three regions of the ionosphere: the lowest D layer, the slightly higher E layer, and the uppermost F layer.
