[301] Predicting the Future with Global Climate Models

Our planet’s air, ocean, ice, land, humans, and much more are continuously interacting to create our complex Earth system. Thousands of climate researchers use Earth system models made up of thousands of math equations run on supercomputers to create an accurate representation of the whole planet. The most robust Earth system models are compared by the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) in reports that summarize predictions of future climate change. Join us this month to discover how climate scientists like Cecile Hannay work every day to improve global climate models to accurately simulate conditions over hundreds of years, so that we can better predict how our planet's climate will likely change.
