Electric cars have a place for a plug instead of a gas pump. If the electricity comes from renewable energy sources, then driving does not produce carbon dioxide emissions. If the electricity comes from a mix of energy sources, as is available in most locations, then driving does produce carbon dioxide but far less than driving a car powered by gasoline alone. Transportation accounts for 14% of all greenhouse gas emissions.
